While App Virt solves many important application management challenges, it also creates it's own set of new issues. I think we all would benefit from a comprehensive list of those challenges and workarounds/solutions, including understanding how the different vendor solutions address these challenges.

So ... what are the challenges you struggle with when using application virtualization? Application compatibility (which ones?) Cross-application integration (examples?) Post-installation challenges (like data file format upgrades)? Which vendors have unique solutions to address (or create!) these problems?

I have found that when you mention App-V to most vendors they have no clue even what it is, let alone what it does and how to support it. I have found that it is much easier to leave App-V out of the equation when dealing with vendors.
